When on the beach
the beautiful Lola, showing off
her long tail, the sailors go crazy, and even the pilot loses his bearings. Oh, what pleasure I felt, when on the beach she took out her handkerchief and greeted me, but then she came closer to me , gave me a hug , and in that embrace I thought I would die.
After a year of not seeing land
because the war prevented me,
I arrived at the port where
the one my heart adored was.
The little Cuban girl was crying sadly
, alone and on the high seas
, and the sailor comforted her:
“Don’t cry, Lola,
you won’t drown.”
